@Clare sorry havent replied much this week been busy with real life issues work kids xmas ect lol but ive been playing for a few hours today trying many different things all on SOLO not multiplayer just solo and yup its defo happening when something else is on the screen. And also another thing that happened to me was i dropped a crate down and it just went straight through the map lol saved and yes its now stuck on cleaning up
I was just messing around a bit and saw now I can now pick up a palm frond that I have speared under the sand. Not sure why I couldnāt pick it up before. It is still slowly moving in the direction of the current though. This is a new game that I started to experiment with things. Still on starting island.

@Spacecoyotey - Thanks for letting me know, while the palm frond is likely not connected as it can be retrieved, Iāve made a note of it occuring in the same save as the cleaning up issue just in case. And Iām glad you can interact with in now to retrieve it. If you notice anything else you feel could be related to this āCleaning upā issue, please let me know. If you think there could be seperate issues, please feel free to create your own bug report topic and Iāll get to it as soon as I can and address them directly

Hi Clare,
No Iād been on the new island a couple of days and I was just wrapping up to leave actually. One boar had run into the water and hid in the coral (they never seem to come back out of the water when they do that, but if I find them hidden amongst the coral I can still attack and retrieve them) on day 1, but I hadnāt experienced anything disappearing.
Happened to me today went to a new island set up a little camp moved my bed by dragging it to where I liked tried saving the game has saved notification came on screen and it froze I waited for 20 minutes closed the game and itās stuck on cleaning up when I looked at the cartographer it thinks I last saved on my starter island very disappointed to lose my day 60 save file was trying to 100% this file was created recently/single player

UPDATE 03/12/2021
The team has a fix, are working on testing it and will be releasing the fix as soon as they can. As with previous fixes, this will not restore old saves but should fix an error that caused this issue and prevent further instances of this issue occurring. The fix is for the version of the issue where crates or items are dumped / lost in the ocean, it is unknown if this will impact all versions of the issue reported by players but the team will continue to investigate after this fix is released.
As soon as I know more or get word that the fix is being released, I will let the community know.
As a side note, investigating the reproduction steps involving crates that was reported by players has given further insight into the Inventory and Toolbelt wipe issue also so they team should have a fix for this soon too. I will update the known issues post on that bug too.

Is there any chance of the team working on something that can fix the old saves? Or should we definitely start a new game 
@CorvusCorax - Thank you for confirming that info for me. Iāll add a note on these anphibious boars hiding in coral. I believe I had a report on this already so I will note the potential link for the team.
@Getmadfools - welcome to the forums, Iām sorry to hear this has affected your save too. Thank you for sharing the details of your experience. During your gameplay session before saving, do you recall losing anything when setting up your camp or dumping anything in the ocean?

I think because of the nature of the error it is not possible. Usually the team will do everything they can to ensure new saves are not required and that fixes apply to older saves but it does not seem to be possible here. Should this change however as the team continue to test and investigate other triggers I will let the community know.
I just ran into this last night (PS5). I had just made it to a new island, and was setting up camp. Nothing out of my ordinary setup.
I saw that thereās a fix coming related to crates dropped in the ocean. This didnāt happen to me, but I did lose a fish trap a while back (not deployed - got attacked by a shark while trying to find a good spot lol). Could that be related? That was quite a few saves ago though.

I have created an account just to say this. I am really frustrated because I have just lost a big save where I had 109 days in with most of the things completed, a big house, a very big raft with 12 chests on it, a gyrocopterā¦ basically everything was figured out and like many others, my game froze upon saving and it never goes past the ācleaning upā pageā¦
Now I`ve seen from yesterday that you have a fix for this, but please try to fix also the savegamesā¦ there are dozens of hours spent there and it will be just for nothing.
PS: can you please let us know when the fix will be ready? I started a second game and the game froze upon the second day inā¦ because the first time I thought that it was a sole incidentā¦ and I`m not starting a 3rd game and risk investing hundreds of hours again just to get the savegame bug again.

My game has been freezing up (Iām on PS4) when I try to save then when I close application and try to reload it doesnāt load past the cleaning up. This is doing the same thing as when the two player DLC was released. Update 1.11 fixed this problem but then returned with update 1.12. I have found when the game freezes upon trying to save, I can go into options put wildlife on passive then the game unlocks but everything that is not attached to anything is scattered everywhere. Iāve lost crates, sharks, rocks etc. not to mention the time Iāve wasted looking for lost stuff. Iāve tried deleting everything uninstalling then reinstalling the game Iāve even played on my wifeās PS4 with the same things happening. This appears to be random meaning this has happened over many different days survived different worlds over several different saves, the only constant is it happens every time I start a new save and happens quickly. Since the 1.12 update I cannot so much as make it off the starter island. I very, very much enjoy playing Stranded Deep, but it is currently unplayable please help.

Iāve just had the savegame bug again in a new game. Iāve not been off the island because I wanted to get the Hermit trophy. I didnāt travel on a raft or anything, just saving at a campfire triggered the bug. I wasnāt holding anything at the moment. Luckily I made backups this time

Though there is a chance the losing of your fishtrap is unrelated because you were able to save a few times before this issue occurred, I have still made a note of it for the team in my report just in case. @OIF1ADVET - Thank you for sharing those details, this is an interesting workaround you have found and the effect of loading back in with items scattered equally so. I will inform the team and add this as a potential workaround to my top post. Do you usually dump items in the deep ocean in your game or have you noticed it occurs often after exploring new islands in established saves? When your game āunlocksāā are you entering the menu while the gameplay is frozen? Can you then load these saves at a later date even though a lot of your items are scattered? Any extra information you can share about your workaround would be greatly appreciated.
@Elessar8 - Iām glad you had backups for your save. When you saved near your campfire, was it lighting / cooking anything and would you have potentially received a notification about it at the same time you were saving?

Ok had the same bug last night version 2078 / after 20 days in game. what i did was loading 5 crates on the raft / whent to the 3rd island i discovered with everything to build water still, fire, shelter. once arrived builded the camp, still & fire, replenished my vital when to the shelter to save entered the options quit the options menu check my inventory whent back in the shlter menu to save when it saved the game became blurry and frooze after 5 minutes quit close the application on the PS4 / reseted the PS4 loaded the game / game stuck in the cleaning up phase of the loading retried 5 times same results reloaded new game on save # 2ā¦ save # 1 must be corrupted i guess / single player mode

@alanboy69 - When you arrived at your third island, is this the first time youād saved on an island other than your starting island or did you save on your second one as well? Do you recall losing or dumping anything in the ocean during your travels?
@andersoncbrz - Do you recall if this happened after traveling to a new island or if you had dumped / lost anything in the ocean before this occured? Any extra information you can give about your gameplay before this issue occured can help the team narrow down any other potential triggers for this issue.
Playing on xbox series x with latest patch. On Saturday my saved game got corrupted after 20 hours of gameplay and was stuck on the cleaning screen. Started new game. Build a shelter on starter island and saved with no issues. Then used the yellow raft and paddled to new island. Chopped down a tree and constructed a shelter. Hit save and bam game froze. Save game corrupt. Nothing fell into the ocean as i was paddling to new island. I only had one crate on me. When saving i did not touch any other button on my controller.
Hello Clare, thank you for responding. I do dump unwanted items into the abyss thinking itās less items the game has to save I really donāt know if this helps my save or not. I donāt think its related to the freezing when saving issue. Since this issue started again after the 1.12 update, Iāve started numerus different saves and the game freezes up whether I dump into the abyss or donāt. On one save I started, I got to the starter island the only thing I did was collected all fibrous leaves, built a shelter and saved, the game froze on the very first save. On another save my starter island had a container ship so I had plenty of crates for storage, so I built container shelves (only as many as I needed) so when the game did freeze, I had nothing laying around, so I lost nothing however as you know I donāt have the resources on a starter island to do this every time as I came up short on wood for other things. Iām playing single player not online, when the game freezes the pause menu automatically opens, I can go to options put wildlife on passive this will unlock the game and I can go on with my current save to include saving again, however as I mentioned before anything not secured may be lost, anything that floats logs, starter crates etc. you may see floating in the water, swim around the island to look for things that donāt float crates etc. I also believe things I donāt interact with are not affected and will not be thrown everywhere. On one save there were a couple rocks and a crate that was above the water line in a rowboat that I had not interacted with were not affected. Sorry about the long response. One more thing after the game freezes thereās only one chance to go to options if I open the options menu then hit circle and exit out it wonāt let you go back in you will be stuck. Thank You Clare.
