I’m sort of a veteran in this game I platinumed 2 months after lunch and I still love it but I can’t describe to you my frustration enough but I’ll try my best to make it clear
I left this game for like 2 years ( or quit less) and leave it update so when I com back I see a more optimized/content complete game but now after I beaten the game again today I just wish I didn’t beat it because THIS GAME IS LARGELY UNCHANGED SINCE THEN and some people might be saying that it’s content complete or stuff like that and the answer is no the devs didn’t mention anything about the game being finished and oh boy the 30fps cap , I’m playing on a ps5 and having some frame pacing issues I remember suggesting a ps5 upgrade and the devs refused Bec of budget or something like that but I think it would have been neat if they just added a 60fps patch or anything like that (sorry I’m going back and forth in some topics here) and the content I remember the devs promising the big world update for the consoles but where is that? Nowhere instead they limited the resources even more by nerfing the island creator making sticks again limited and can’t be gotten back and the crafting menu is just exactly the same everything is the same EVEN the bugs didn’t get fixed if the ps4 is preventing you from making a better game somehow then discontinue it I know ppl would be pissed but they will understand , the only thing that’s keeping this game alive is the PC custom downloadable maps that changes the way you play that’s it console gamers here are just begging for anything but nothing changes but a small fix here and there
You know… You remind me of raft and sons of the forest but in the complete opposite direction , they also started with a very small team and grew bigger and bigger but you instead of focusing on one platform until the game is 100% finished u just released it everywhere EVEN TO THE SWITCH and never touched the core pillars of the game ever again
It might seem like a rant but trust me I still love this game and I hope I can do more to help make this game a better game overall but it seems like the devs don’t care and won’t sell the rights to a team that cares and it is over for me and anyone who’s waiting for a big content update

The devs long ago said that they consider the game feature complete and would be focusing on QoL improvements, so the game itself is done. [Console] Update 2134 Release Notes (+ hotfix 2136) - #15 by Clare
As for the big world update, the consoles would never be able to handle it. Hell, it strains gaming PCs half the time. They even said in Jan of last year that they had no plans of giving the consoles this update. You just gotta check and keep up on the forums. Pc’s map editor to consoles - #2 by Clare
The reason why they limited the number of custom islands is simple. Consoles can only handle so much as they do not have anywhere near the memory or processing of PCs. Unlimited custom islands gives you unlimited resources, but it also causes too many issues for the consoles as they cannot handle the number of items that it would have to keep up with. And, as I have said before many times, the game was never meant to be infinite survival. The point of the game is to survive long enough to defeat the three bosses and escape Pacifica. This isn’t Subnautica, where you have infinite food and water and resources and it was never designed that way and people really need to stop expecting it to be.
TLDR: Quit whining and moaning because you want the play the game in a way it isn’t meant to be played!
Thanks for providing info I was wrong
But that still doesn’t explain why they didn’t do a ps5/xsx upgrade to put the big world update
It does explain it. The consoles do not have the memory or processing power to keep up with the PCs. Plus, the console version was designed for the XB1 and the PS4. Do you have any idea of what it would take to make a console update for the next gen consoles? Especially this long after they declared the console version feature complete?
If they did or if they did a Stranded Deep 2 for Next Gen I’d buy it

It ain’t just a few click I know and it’s pretty much Worth it and possible to run at 60fps
Way back on version 0.58-ish on PC it was announced the game would come to console. Then there was some publisher issues revolving around the collapse of Telltale Games.
Anyway, I remember watching a video by AlienAnge (who played SD from the very beginning) when the console announcement was made. He loudly questioned the decision way back then. There have been major improvements since then, but still a significant amount of bugs exist in a game so small and with so much development. We are talking Bethesda level development over years and years and years for a game under…what 5 gigs?
The Beam Team did attack most bugs quickly, and others stuck around for several versions. The launching of the fourth resource (stones, clay, sticks). Floating fruit. Flying on sharks while walking. Sharks swimming through rocks.
And other features were removed and shouldn’t have been. The boss locations used to be oil rigs. Clay on the shore not underwater.
And other things were added. Fishing poles, storage on boats, traps, bobbers (why?), cooking inside homes.
For all of that, the game still suffers from issues it shouldn’t suffer from. Some major game mechanics should’ve been smoothed out before adding “features” like giant crabs, large boars, goblin and black tip reef sharks, bobbers (why?). I think people who play games would much rather solid gameplay over features. I certainly wouldn’t return to the game for a goblin shark or crab or aggressive pig. Give me smooth aiming and I will.
