Has anyone figured out a way to transport tyres and barrels from island to island without completely losing all maneuverability of you raft? I always end up leaving the extra tyre on the island I found it.

There was another thread on this same topic just a few days ago with some helpful info. Just check through [Console] General Discussion.
You can just put the tires or the barrels in front or the side of the raft and you can later hit the tires or the barrels with the axe and disassemble them to use it in another raft.
This only works if your harvesting is max or you risk losing one or more of the components used to make that raft section.
