Whenever you skin an animal the character says things like “Disgusting” or “Gross”, I think as your cooking/hunting skill increases their phrases should change to things like “Gonna eat well tonight” or “This will taste good” or “Can’t wait to cook this up” etc.

Simple - but effective. I like it! I always hated that the character said that, after killing their 500th fish

I think this would be a good idea. Maybe after a week or two of surviving and cleaning meat for cooking, the character will find it more satisfying when they have a good hunt.
